Easter Lovat

Debra is a new member of Abbeydale Writers who has endeared herself to us and we think you too will respond to her delicate story telling style.  
This is a farm in Scotland, where, as in many parts of  Great Britain during the War, prisoners of war were put to work on the land. This is a   romance surrounding one such Italian POW Antonio Colazzi, and the farming  family he lived with and worked for and became close to. A sensitively             portrayed situation of which some of the older  members of AWG experienced personal variations.  Many readers will enjoy Debra's delicate                         handling  of her characters and situations.

       The Swap

         More of Chris's inventive humour. His talent is not just thinking of instantly evocative situations but also in developing twists in the                tale.  Sometimes you can see them coming but not this time.
         During our weekly meeting Chris's reading is usually left till last because it is impossible to follow it for tears of laughter.

                The Cherry Tree

                      As writers sometimes do, Bob has refashioned this story very considerably. Bob's stories normally contain an unusal amount of                               blood. But not this time - at least not so far.He is one of our most accomplished fiction writers whose chief attraction for many of us is                           not just his plots but choice of phrase throughout his novels. Without being overtly affected by dialect, this does reflect his Northern                           English origins. Our overseas readers may find this slightly unusual but nevertheless will surely get the feeling of reality that springs                             from his characters.

Owen is an enthusiastic member of the group who loves to write in strong rythms and
play with word association through rhyme. The "Oaks" of which he writes were a local living landmark, until the Authorities took a hand.
